Photoelectric level sensors Fotek use the principles of changing the transmission coefficient or changing the refractive index of light. In the method of changing the transmission coefficient, a sensor consisting of a light source and a photo sensor reacts to the interruption or attenuation of the light beam when a liquid crosses the path of the beam from the light source to the photocell. In the method of changing the refractive index, an optical prism installed in a tank changes the refractive index of light when it is immersed in a liquid.

Capacitive sensors Fotek are used to monitor the level of both liquid and bulk media. They are installed, as a rule, in the side wall of the tank at a level at which detection of the controlled material is required.
